Reading-Rewards.com was launched just over a year ago, and since then we have had just over 4,000 members join. We’re very excited! More than just an online reading log, Reading Rewards also encourages our young members to rate and review their books. These reviews can then be shared with other members, and help kids find great book recommendations.

I’ve wanted to profile some of our users for a while. I love reading their reviews: they often put a lot of time and effort into them, and I hope you enjoy them!

In this first of our ‘Featured User’ series, I would like to introduce you to Talitha, 13 years old, who has been a Reading Rewards member since April, 2010!

Talitha has logged over 246 reading hours on our site (well done!!), and has reviewed 47 books. That is quite an impressive reading list, I’m sure you’ll agree!

We asked Talitha to answer a couple of questions about RR and her reading habits:

Do you have an all-time favorite book? What sort of book do you generally enjoy?

Talitha: I like the Rangers Apprentice books. I enjoy adventure books.

Where is your favorite place to read? When you do usually read?

Talitha: My Bed. I read whenever I can, or when my mom doesn’t catch me :D.

Do you enjoy using the Reading Rewards website? What do you like about it? Could you tell us what would make it better?

Talitha: Yes. I like trying to get ahead of all my friends on the reading levels. I think that when you ask someone to be your friend you should be able to send them a message or something with the request.

Here is a list of Talitha’s book reviews, pulled directly from her Reading Rewards profile. Enjoy!

The Witch of Blackbird Pond (Yearling Newbery)
A wonderful story about a girl who comes to Connecticut and just cant fit in

Among the Enemy
This book is where they finally start to defeat the population police, step by small step

The Holy Bible King James Version: King James Version
This Book and every other version of it, like NIV ect. should contain answers to most of your questions

Rangers Apprentice #4 The Battle For Skandia
This was a REALLY good book with a lot of action and adventure in it.

Among the Imposters
Exciting. Extremely well written. This book makes you feel like you are actually in it. It is AMAZING!!

School’s Out–Forever: A Maximum Ride Novel
This book was the second one I think. It was awesome to read.
Fang get injured really bad so they have to go to the hospital where they meet someone who makes them go to school.

Among the Brave
Exciting and very suspenseful. This one is about Trey, who is a really frightened person but he can be very brave

The Final Warning: A Maximum Ride Novel
I really love these books. There are some really funny parts, and I like how its a teen talking and they don’t make it like all strict grammar and such

Among the Barons
Exiting. I definitely recommend this whole series to people of all ages from maybe 9 and up^

Among the Brave
Exciting. This series is really good

Erak’s Ransom: Book Seven (Ranger’s Apprentice)
I love this book. Will almost dies, he almost loses Tug, and Halt almost gets killed

Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports: A Maximum Ride Novel
Amazing book. I looove this series. It would be Awesome to fly :) I definitley reccomend this whole series. :D

Among the Free
In this book there is a chain of exciting events that causes the Population police to lose power completely. This is the last book in the series. I like this series so much because I am the youngest of 6 children so its fun

Among the Betrayed
Among the Betrayed is full of hard choices that the main character must make, just like all of the Shadow Children books.

Fang: A Maximum Ride Novel
This is a pretty good book. The parts with only Max and Fang in them are really gross, and its sad at the end for a certain character, I’m not telling which.

The Angel Experiment: A Maximum Ride Novel
Very Awesome. These kids have wings because some scientists put avian dna into them so they can fly. One of them gets captured by erasers so they have to save her.

My Side Of The Mountain
The book “My side of the Mountain” describes something that I have always wanted to do, even though I don’t live in the city. I love this book. It is very amazing that this person would have enough courage to do it and enough knowledge about the wilderness to survive.

Silver on the Tree (The Dark Is Rising Sequence)
Very exiting and suspenseful. I really liked the cover of the book. But it was sad at the end when they all had to forget everything about the Light and Dark.

Ranger’s Apprentice Book 8 The Kings Of Clonmel
all of the rangers apprentice books are amazing. this one was interesting because you find out something about halt that no character knew

Anne Of Windy Poplars
most of this book is letters to Gilbert there is three sections in it
1st year 2nd year and 3rd

The Sable Quean (Redwall (Philomel/Cloth))
This Book just came out recently i think really good, exiting,a few sad parts I just loved it

Heartland #1: Coming Home
Touching story about a young girl whose mother dies and she is left with a lot of horses to tame and take care of for other people

Among the Hidden
This book is about a boy who was born a third child in China and had to hide most of his life (#1)

The Ruins of Gorlan
This book is the first in the Rangers Apprentice series and starts the series really well.

Counting on Grace
This Book tells the story of a young girl who had to work in a cotton mill (science fiction)

TINKER’S DAUGHTER, THE: A Story Based on the Life of Mary Bunyan
This Book was encouraging and was a very sad and wonderful story.

God Thinks You’re Wonderful
encouraging and cute, filled with little cartoon pics and like “notes” telling you how God loves you

Anne Of The Island
suspenseful and “romantic” and very extremely funny i like anne alot

Lord Of The Rings 1 Fellowship Of The Ring
This is an exciting book to read. It tells of from when Frodo leaves the Shire, to where the Fellowship of the Ring is formed, and then to when all of the Company’s ways split.

The Dark Is Rising (The Dark Is Rising Sequence)
This book is really good, but it is obviously mostly unrealistic. There is telepathy very often in this book, but it is still exciting and has lots of adventures in it.

Growing Wings
The cover of this book makes you think that its about angels but it is really about a girl who begins to grow wings, a touching story fiction

Max: A Maximum Ride Novel
This book comes before “Fang”. There is some parts with max and fang only and i suggest skipping them because they are annoying and pretty gross. Other than those parts, its a good book.

Return of the King: The Lord of the Rings, Part 3
This is an okay book, it is like the other books with long boring parts. All the boring parts are why it took me so long to read it, but I finally got through it. If you have watched the movies you should read these books, and if you are going to watch the movies ever you should read them.

Anne Of Green Gables
really good book the main character(anne) is sooo hilarious, says the funniest things

Julie’s Wolf
“Julies Wolf Pack” is the last book that I know of in this series. It is pretty good. Wolfs are getting rabies in it. Near the end it is a little sad, but then it straightens out.

Old Yeller
this book is funny pretty much all the way through it.Then at the end it makes me cry.

Anne Of Avonlea
very “romantic” ,as anne might say.very hilarious and sometimes serious

Julie
The “Julie of the Wolves” series is pretty good. “Julie” is the second book in it. Wolves are my favorite animal so I liked this series.

Greenwitch
“Greenwitch” is a pretty good book. Not as unrealistic as “The Dark is Rising”, but it is good

Redwall
This book is a really good book too and it might just catch you into itself

The Hobbit
some parts are pretty boring and hard to stay focused on, but all in all its a pretty good book.

Outcast of Redwall
This was a great book and I liked it a lot. It was about a badger who’s parents were killed by vermin.

Lord Of Ring #2 Two Towers Pb
This was a fiction book with quite a bit of action and adventure in it . This book made me laugh and cry a few times.

Wrinkle In Time ~ Cl
Really good book. Has alot of quotes in it, especially from the Bible. I enjoyed it a ton.

The Grey King
Quite exiting. Sometimes you think that everything is happening way to fast. But I thought that everything was way to easy for him to do everything that he had to.

Over Sea, Under Stone
“Over Sea, Under Stone” was more of an optional book than an actual part of the series. It wasn’t very suspenseful either. It didn’t keep me wanting to read it all at once.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I think I might have read this before, but I can’t remember. I like this book a little. It kind of makes me depressed because nothing ever seems to get completely solved. The characters are always changing the subject on each other.

Do you have any books that you think Talitha would enjoy based on this reading list? Maybe you know a 13 year old girl that would enjoy it? If you would like to nominate an RR user to appear in a future post, please let us know in the comments section!

Happy Reading!
