There’s even more news since we wrote this post!! Check it out here!

We hope you made the most of your summers and took some well deserved time off.

We enjoyed the summer too… but time off just wasn’t on the menu. That’s because we had big plans for Reading Rewards, and we wanted to make sure to make them a reality before the start of the new school year.

In this post, we’ll outline 7 improvements we’ve made to Reading Rewards that we hope you’ll enjoy!

The Teacher Dashboard

One of our most significant additions to Reading Rewards’ Premium and School plans, the Teacher Dashboard was developed to help you stay on top of your students’ reading activity and to communicate their progress to their parents.

You’ll find a series of dynamic charts, gauges, and tables, as well as a monthly calendar. The dashboard offers multiple perspectives on your class’ reading activity–from a global view of the entire class to detailed drill-downs on each student’s reading patterns–all with virtually no added effort on your part.

The iOS App

Last May, we launched a new iOS app for Reading Rewards. Now, kids and teens can access the Reading Rewards features they love, from wherever they do their reading. With the app, kids and teens can use their iPhones, iPods or iPads to:

  • Log their reading
  • Connect with friends to see what they’re reading and read their reviews.
  • Earn rewards as they read.

The Newsfeed

Here’s a new feature that our young readers will enjoy. The Newsfeed reinforces Reading Rewards’ position as a safe social network for kids, built around the activity of reading.

In the Newsfeed, kids and teens will see when their friends and classmates:

  • Start a new book
  • Finish a book
  • Earn a new badge
  • Review a book
  • Purchase a reward
  • Join a group
  • Move up a level

What’s more, kids and teens can keep each other motivated by cheering each other on for hitting all these different milestones.

The Monthly Raffle

This year on Reading Rewards, kids and teens will find a new reward in their RR store. They’ll now be able to trade in their RR Miles for a raffle ticket.

Each month, on the first of the month, we’ll draw three names. Winners will each receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

We know that for many kids, reading is its own reward. But we hope this addition will give other, more reluctant readers, a little extra push.

Welcome Emails

Reading Rewards was launched in 2010 as a very simple reading log and reading incentive program. Since then, we’ve added a ton of powerful features–from custom badges and assigned reading lists, to reading challenges and quizzes. Seven years in, we’ve added so much depth to the Reading Rewards reading program, that it’s easy to miss some of our valuable features.

That’s why we spent time this summer developing a series of welcome emails for new teachers and librarians signing on with the program. Every day for five to nine days (depending on your plan), you’ll receive an email full of tips and tricks on how to get the most of Reading Rewards. We hope you find these messages helpful!

Fresh Blog Content

We hate to admit it, but we haven’t always been great at keeping our blog content up to date. This summer, we tried to make up for lost time with a series of new blog posts, loaded with helpful tips. Here’s a sample:

And with all that behind us, we still have many more developments coming your way this school year. If you aren’t already signed up to the program, what are you waiting for? Sign up to Reading Rewards today.
